January 10-21, 2017
Opening Reception Thursday January 12, 2016, 6-9PM

See art through the eyes of one of Halton’s most prolific collectors.  Works ranging from landscape painting to inuit art, drawings and ethnographic objects, demonstrate one man’s keenness to collect work by artists from Ontario and across Canada.

Inspired by Ken Thompson who donated over $300m to the Art Gallery of Ontario, this local collector, of average means, devised a way to collect art, from local artists, emerging artists as well as some of Canada’s most celebrated painters and craftspeople.   View these privately owned works of art, learn about the artists, and how this large private collection came to be.

With some sleuth stories, bargain finds at estate sales and “love at first sight” purchases that blew the budget, this show catalog’s one man’s love of art.  Predictably, none of the work is for sale.
